Landscape designing is one of the specialized fields of study where students learn how to make the landscape functional, beautiful and compatible with the surrounding environment. The location of buildings, roads, walkways, gardens, even the arrangement of trees, flower-beds, fountains etc is decided by Landscape designer by being aware of the conservation of natural resources and history of the area.

Landscape designers also control urban problems such as pollution and excess traffic. Hence it may even involve regulating traffic movement and redesigning traffic ways. However, a number of excellent landscape designers are self-taught. Armed with excellent gardening skills and some knowledge of horticulture, they proceeded to experiment with small home gardens before venturing out on more ambitious projects. Job Profile

  • Gather and examine the data on conditions such as location, drainage, and location of structures for environmental reports and landscaping plans.
  • Meet with clients, engineering personnel, and architects on overall program.
  • Examine landscape work to ensure consent with specifications, approve quality of materials and work, and advise client and construction personnel.
  • Make graphic representations or drawings of proposed plans or designs.
  • Make site plans, specifications, and cost estimates for land development, coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.
  • Gain new working opportunities through marketing, writing proposals or giving presentations.
